Buying Pet Clothes
Saturday, July 31st, 2010If you are thinking of buying small dog clothes for your pet, then you’re not the only one. Pet clothes seem to be a growing trend today, creating a fashion statement not only for the owner but for the character of the pet itself. However, buying pet clothes is pretty much like buying a Leather Dog Collor or any other pet supply. You can’t just go inside the store and grab anything that strikes your fancy. In fact, dog clothes take as much thought as buying your own. Following are some factors you have to consider when buying something your pet will wear. Fit There is no standard size for pets. Most manufacturers create their own indexes for dog size, but when it comes right down to it, there is no exact measurement. Usually, you’ll find that there are instructions for measurement that you can follow before a dress size is given to you. This would usually include the collar size, legs, chest and the distance between the front and hind legs. Make sure to follow the exact instructions for measurement to get the right size for your dog. Washing For convenience, you should pick pet clothes that are washable. This is true for simple clothes like shirts or tank tops. However, custom made clothes like a suit or a miniature Elvis Presley’s suit usually takes more attention and time to get it cleaned. Pet peeves Keep in mind that your pet would usually chew on stuff it could reach, including the clothes. Take heed of large buttons, protruding lace or hanging cloth that they could easily reach. Keep in mind your dog’s habit so that you could buy clothes that agree with your pet’s lifestyle. Attachments Make sure that the pet clothes you buy are easily attached and removed. Opt for Velcro straps rather than buttons and zippers that make it harder to fit and remove dog clothes.
