Why is it that consumers and small business owners see bankruptcy as a mark of shame to be avoided at all costs when bankruptcy is touted as a new beginning and a positive step for corporate America? Is there anything different about filing bankruptcy when the debtor is General Motors rather than when it is Joe the plumber?

The news about a big business bankruptcy filing stress the opportunities in bankruptcy, to be rid of unnecessary assets, to manage overwhelming debt, to re-structure to move forward. Those are the same opportunities that exist for the individual in Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

If the highly educated, very experienced management of America’s biggest companies made mistakes and drove their businesses into bankruptcy court, why do individuals, who usually come in to financial matters without much training or financial reserves and resilience, think it is a mark of personal failure to do the same?

If you’re contemplating bankruptcy or you are currently in Bankruptcy, your stress level may be through the roof. This is very understandable. Trying to understand the journey that you are going through is unimaginable, but sometimes we must stop and find something to laugh about. If you do not, the chances are depression will set in. Bankruptcy can be a great way to get a fresh start that you can begin to laugh and enjoy life again. Proverbs 17:22 says, a joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones. Not only does God state that is good to have a hearty laugh with science also verifies that a good laugh is healthy for the sole and your heart
