Future Pacing is a strategy where the customer is asked to fantasize him or herself in the future in a fixed desired situation.

The given situation being the subject, problem, challenge, or limitation that you worked with your customer on. Example : Your customer formerly felt intense nervousness when talking in public. You’ve been working with your customer to feel relaxed and assured next time he goes on stage to give a talk to a giant audience.

You ask your customer to picture him or herself on stage. You’ve got to be in tune as to how your customer looks unresourceful in the old situation of being on stage, nlp the way the customer looks relaxed and calm in the new situation. A technique to do this is asking your customer at the start of the training session to envision what it now feels enjoy being on stage.

And then ask your customer to consider a scenario where she felt relaxed and calm.

You have then calibrated how your customer looks, when having certain feelings. At the end of the nlp training session, your customer will display what he or she appears to be relaxed and calm. Ensuring that your change work not only is applicable to past and present, it also is applicable to the future. Future pacing is also a psychological walkthrough for the customer, to now feel ingenious in the contexts she or he formerly felt unresourceful. Another efficient way to use future pace for psychological walk thru is have your customer imagine the situation in the future, and mentally practice road blocks that will come up. As an example in the previous example, the easiest way to answer certain complicated questions, the easiest way to reply to applause, how to deal with a mistake in the speech for example.

Future pacing is a nlp technique to give the brain positive pictures / sounds / feelings, which makes success more likely ( or as a minimum make the customer feel good.
