Stainless Steel Door Handles – How to Fix Them
If it is, smear a little grease or petrol jelly onto the spring and move the handle a couple of times till the grease / jelly has worked its way into the spring mechanism. Now and then these can bind against the door, stopping the handle from returning to its standard position. Take away the handle from the door and lay it flat on a table. You are going to need to drill a hole in every side of your door sufficiently large and deep enough to permit the Stainless Steel Door Handles backplate to rest flat against the door. Take away the handles from the door and pull out the latch.
Occasionally , particularly in new houses or on newly hung doors, doors ‘drop’ after a bit. If this occurs, the latchbolt can bind against its keep plate. If this has occurred you may possibly be in a position to spot indications of wear or scratches on the keep plate and maybe on the latchbolt. To fix this you must take away the keep plate and reposition it a touch lower down the door frame.
