Working As A School Nurse Is Not As Easy As It Seems
Tuesday, August 17th, 2010Ivan has been working as a school nurse and whenever there is a new vaccine out to be administered to the elementary school children they would always send out forms to the parents. According to Ivan they cannot just administer these vaccines without the parental permission and medical consent form duly signed by the child’s legal guardian. Ivan said if they administer these vaccines without the parent’s consent the school would be in huge trouble as the parent’s could file a law suit to the school. So Ivan had to follow every rules mandated by the school down to the last letter. Before he landed the job as a school nurse, he had to learn quite a lot of school policies and what not. As part of the deal breaker, whether or not he would land the job is the essay the principal asked him to write an essay based on what he understand about “parents rights against grandparents”. According to the principal this is highly crucial as there are several grandparents who are the legal guardians of many of the children in their school. According to Ivan, the whole interview process was nerve wracking and he was glad to just get over it. When the interview process was done, he felt so relieved he invited a few of his close friends for a pizza party. He did not care if he gets the job or not, he was just glad the excruciating interview was over and done with. The following day, Ivan received a call from the principal’s secretary asking him if he could join the principal for lunch over the nearby bistro. Ivan rationalized that he must have gotten the job otherwise the principal would not have bothered to arrange the lunch meeting.
